SPIRITUAL VITALITY

The definition of death has been hotly debated for years. Is death when the vital signs are gone, or when the brain waves are flat?

Even more important is correctly determining the death of a Christian congregation. Is the church dying when the congregation shrinks, or if it doesn't have all the social outlets you want, or if the pastor doesn't have the charisma of a Joel Osteen? To judge a Christian congregation dead or dying by such signs would be like determining the death of a person by the type of clothes he or she wore. Believers in Christ gather together to be nourished with the life giving Gospel and also share it with others. When a congregation is no longer concerned or interested in the souls of unbelievers, then it is either dead or dying. The real vital sign of the church is the determination of the congregation to preach repentance and the forgiveness of sins through Jesus worldwide, beginning at home and spreading to every nation.
